How to Get the Right Bathroom Fixtures for Your Home

How to Get the Right Bathroom Fixtures for Your Home

Many homeowners didn't pay much attention to their bathrooms in the past. This was, after all, where they went to take a shower or bath. They did not stick around long enough to enjoy the room. All they required was basic faucet and showerhead.

Today, people really get out of their way to spend on bathroom tiles and bathroom fixtures. Due to the stress caused by fast-paced living, the bathroom has grown to be an oasis of sorts. As much as possible, homeowners ensure that whenever they do a remodeling job, they include the latest sinks, showerheads, toilets, and faucets.

How to pick bathroom fixtures

The first thing you have to do is think about the age of your home.  Old homes that are over 100 years old have antique fixtures that are likely difficult to find. To restore the items, you could go to restoration websites or go to local home improvement stores.

In case you purchased an old house and want your bathroom fixtures to suit the style, oil-rubbed bronze is an excellent finish for faucets and towel holders.

For your bathing needs, a claw foot tub is a good suggestion. Just be sure you have enough space to accommodate one of these, as they can be quite large.  You can install a matching shower head above the tub using a free-standing holder. Another idea is to attach it to the tub by using a flexible hose.

A more modern approach

For a modern touch, select stainless steel faucets and shower heads. Freestanding showers are normal in present-day home design trends. A few of these include multiple water spigots, which creates mist from various angles. This results in a rainforest-like atmosphere while you're taking a bath.

Always take down measurements

Before installing bathroom fixtures, take down the exact measurements. Not every bathroom is of the same size. Some will call for small toilets, showers, and faucets. That's why you need to measure the area of your renovation project. Do that before buying anything.  This will ensure that you only buy the correct size.

Choosing bathroom tiles

The best way to select bathroom tiles is to go against what is the current trend. Therefore, up-to-date and fashion forward designs are the approach to take. Choosing the current trend isn't wise in terms of value for money. A bathroom with a versatile tile color will offer your home a better future resale value. This makes it easier for you to add and remove trendy accessories as you see fit.

Avoid rushing

Do not rush with regards to choosing bathroom tiles. You could regret it later on. Here is a good example of how to avoid making the wrong choice. A tile sample of vivid green might appear to be the most refreshing choice while a soft green color isn't interesting enough. Just like paint colors, however, the effect of an entire wall or large portion done in a bright color is going to be too much to handle for the eye. It will make the room appear cheap or gaudy. Try paler colored tiles instead. These can give your bathroom a sophisticated look. Also, be sure you select a coordinating tile trim to complete a cohesive design.
