If you are thinking about bathroom design, you may be asking how to make it look modern and cozy. It is the ultimate dream to have a bathroom equipped with a whirlpool bath and towel warmers complete with glamorous hardware and accessories. Bathroom design relies on your budget and needs. As you analyze the options you have, begin with a list of your desires. Divide your list further into two groups: "what I need" and "what needs replacing."

One of the central elements too important to forget is furniture. The usual bathroom furniture includes vanities, wall cabinets with mirrors, single mirrors and shelves. You will also be able to buy sets with all items. Of course, the choices will rely on the budget you set. Often, we envision our bath with brand new items and fail to see that simply changing hardware can give it new life. If you are a DIY person, not only does it spare you some dollars but you can put the saved money toward other furniture.

If you want your shower to display a contemporary look, a good option is durable doors made out of solid glass. This is not only low-cost but you can get rid of the traditional plastic shower curtains found in most bathrooms. Another fashionable means of giving your shower a boost in looks is glass enclosures. These are much easier to install and clean than plastic curtains. Just because you are on a budget doesn't mean you have to sacrifice quality. Buying a top-rated item like a whirlpool bath could have you looking under the "what I can live with" category as far as things that can be added.

New bathroom design does not always actually involve buying new wall cabinets or vanities. Instead, attempt to refinish them. You have an easy-to-do weekend project considering all the commercial products available that can remove old paint. You will be amazed at the transformation just by adding a fresh coat of paint and varnish to your cabinet or vanity.

Determine who will be using the space. Will it be a family bathroom or a place to relax? Clear goals will make it easier in getting the look you want for your bathroom design. If kids are going to be using the room or the room is decorated with pottery, you may consider materials that will hold up if they get wet. Stoned cast resin with acrylic last longer than iron or steel and it is less inclined to be scratched.

Decorating a bathroom doesn't have to be expensive. You can search for more ideas on the internet or get suggestions from a home design store. As you browse, be certain to take along tile samples, paint swatches, or old hardware to find a match. Finally, make a point not to extend your budget.
